Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I'm trying to find out if these two laptops have upgradeable RAM. I have checked on Crucial and one doesn't feature and the other does but under a different region code. My region code errors:

HP Laptop 14s-dq2025na

HP Pavilion Laptop 14-dv1629sa (on Crucial, this features when ending in na instead of sa)

Thanks!

Hi:

According to Crucial for the model series with the Intel core processors, the first notebook you listed supports a max of 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.

So does chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide.

HP Laptop PC 14s-dq2000 Manuals | HP® Customer Support

That seems a bit low to me considering the processor it has and that the manual only has the models with the older Intel 8th gen core processors listed.

You can do this to see how much memory your notebooks can support...

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

For the second notebook you listed, Crucial indicates 2 x 16 GB (DDR4-3200) is the max.

Chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide indicates that 2 x 8 GB is the max.

If running the Windows memory command for the first notebook indicates you can install 2 x 16 GB of memory, you can use the same 16 GB DDR4-3200 memory chip Crucial recommends for the dv1629sa.
