Microsoft Windows 11

Hey,

I need your help,

I have an  HP 15-dw3005np and by the information I see on the specification website I can only have 8GB of RAM. Is this true? Can I really not upgrade to 16GB?

Thank you for your help

@zpedro,

Service manual on your support home page is an old one for 15-dw0000, but even this one indicates this model series supports max16 (2x8) GB. So, you can upgrade RAM to 16 (2x8) GB DDR4 3200 MHz.

According to HP specs for your model, it comes with an Intel Core i5 11th gen processor + 8 (2x4) GB RAM. My laptop with Intel i5 11th gen supports 32 GB. If you need more than 16 GB, use the link below for max capacity of RAM of your model.

@Tk_srq the HP Specs link you provided is the one I was condulting and it shows only what the computer has (4+4) and not what it supports.

My concern is if somehow the computer only supports 4+4 and nothing else. Usually these pages state not only the memory it ships with but also the maximum allowed.

Searching cmd for wmic memphysical get maxcapacity states it supports 64GB. This means the motherboard supports it and as long as I have the SO-DIMM space for them I should be good, is that it?

Your Intel i5-1135G7 processor handles max 64 (2x32) GB DDR4 3200 MHz.

You just found out cmd shows max 64 GB. So, your notebook most likely supports max 64 (2x32) GB.

HP specs for my 15-dy2xxx model with an i5-1135G7 says 8 (2x4) GB RAM DDR4-2666, just like yours. But my notebook actually came with an 8 (1x8) GB DDR4 3200.

Check your RAM configuration. If your notebook actually has 1x8 GB 3200 MHz and you still want 16 GB, you can get another 8 GB DDR4 3200 MHz.
