HP Pavilion x360 Laptop - 14-dw0021na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to do the best possible RAM upgrade I could do for this laptop. I tried to open it to see how many memory slots there are but it's difficult to take apart.

Based on the info below, I think it has two modules, one with 8GB and one which is currently empty.  I cannot find what is the maximum amount it can take is.

Can it take 2 x 8GB, or 2 x 16GB or even 2 x 32GB? My goal is to improve the performance as much as possible. It has 512 SSD.

Device Specs:

Device name DESKTOP-MSTKLE0
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1035G1 CPU @ 1.00GHz 1.19 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.69 GB usable)
Device ID [Personal Information Removed]
Product ID [Personal Information Removed]
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points

I ran this command and it mentions one memory slot:

However, when I checked here, it says there are two:

General performance info:

What would you recommend?

Thanks!

Hello @meesh4

According to the wmic output, your model has 2 slots and supports a maximum of 32 GB, so you can use 2x 16 GB.

It has often been shown that the information in <service manual> is outdated or incorrect. In individual case, you really have to open notebook and check...

This case can be closed.

Thanks @erico for contribution.

Good luck

Hello @meesh4

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... and I would like to help you.

(1) There are <2 slot>. This is somewhat hidden, as a cover must be removed. See the service manual for this.

(2) Service Manual information: Max is  16 GB

(3) Try command (cmd.exe console), if more ram is possible

wmic memphysical get maxcapacity

(updated) Command output of user @meesh4 was: 32 GB

Thank you, this was very helpful information!

I ran the command and read through the link you provided and it seems as though it can take 2 x 16GB modules.  The task manager also says it has 2 slots for memory so I think it should fit two.

It's a bit confusing though, because the manual says it can only take either 1 x 16GB or 2 x 8GB. Do you know why it would say that if the command I ran to get max capacity says it is 32GB.

Would there be a negative effect from upgrading with 2 x 16GBs?
