I am loooking to upgrade the RAM in my laptop it currently has memory slot 1 with 8GB Samsung 1600MHz and the manual says it can support up to 16GB by adding another 8GB into slot 2. However, I would like to know if my computer can handle two 16GB cards and if so which ones are compatible. Thanks for your assitance.

Alright, Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.
I was reading where it can come down to a lot of different variables but as long as the motherboard chipset can support the extra addressable memory needed then you can increase the amount of RAM over what the manual states. With that being said, do you know by chance know what type of motherboard is used on this laptop? Would trying this cause any type of harm to the system?

You're very welcome.
HP does not provide any info on the model/manufacturer of their notebook's motherboards.
The chipset and processor support 32 GB of memory but that would be if the notebook had four memory slots and yours only has two.
The max memory per slot is 8 GB.
If you want to gamble with a DDR3L-1600 16 GB chip to the tune of around $136 each, I would just buy one and add it to the other existing chip.
I would be absolutely shocked if it worked.
It shouldn't cause any damage.
It will either work fine, or the notebook won't boot up until you remove the 16 GB memory chip.
