I'd go with one of these 8 GB memory chips for the empty slot:
Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the memory removal and replacement procedure:

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Your HP 14s-fq0000 Laptop PC can be fitted with up to 2x16GB of DDR4 PC4-21300, 2666 MHz, Non-ECC, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM sticks.
Looking here, it looks like you either got 2x4GB or a single 8GB RAM stick installed.
To check if your PC has 2x4GB or 1x8GB RAM, use the Task Manager in Windows by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc, going to the Performance tab (second option), and selecting Memory. The "Slots used:" information at the bottom of the Memory tab will tell you how many slots are occupied. If it says "2 of 2" or similar, you have two RAM sticks (2x4GB); if it says "1 of 2" or "1 of 1", you have a single stick (1x8GB).
Obviously, if you got 2x4GB of RAM, you'll need to purchase 2x8GB RAM sticks, such as this quality/affordable Amazon purchase option: https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-PC4-21300-Unbuffered-Notebook-Computer/dp/B07NYN6G2P/ref=sr_1_3?crid=.... If you got a single 8GB RAM stick, the aforementioned Amazon link also shows a single 8GB RAM stick purchase option.
Kind Regards,
