@salx2,

Welcome to our HP user Forum!

Your HP Laptop PC 15s-Fq2000 (2D118AV), as per: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=2D118AV

is referenced as an HP LAPTOP 15-DY2008CA (12C16UAR).

I personally would recommend 2 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, SODIMM, 260-pin RAM sticks. Based on your laptop's specs, the RAM will likely be down throttled to 2666 MHz.

Purchase an identical RAM kit -meaning, same brand, model and capacity for best RAM performance, such as this 2x16GB RAM $49 deal via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-DDR4-3200-PC4-25600-Unbuffered-Notebook/dp/B098TYN671/ref=sr_1_2?keyw....

Hope this was helpful.

@salx2,

On the right are your two RAM sticks, and on the left shows your M.2 NVMe SSD primary (boot) drive, with HP p/n: M16785-001 "HFM256GD3JX013N GENUINE HP SSD 256GB".

This can also be upgraded, of course, say with a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD.

@salx2,

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by: "i got banned on a game and they banned my ssd".

I have been gaming probably longer than you, and that never happened to me.  Or do you mean that you ran out of storage space on your C-drive?

Your original question was about upgrading your RAM, which I answered.  Upgrading your M.2 NVMe SSD is a separate upgrade option, but would be a bit more work, as it involves cloning your original 256GB drive to a larger drive.  Is that what you want to do?

@salx2,

Sure, here are two awesomely priced 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD purchase options: for $41 (this pricing includes a $5 off coupon) for a 1TB Crucial P3 M.2 NVMe SSD: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PCIe-NAND-NVMe-3500MB/dp/B0B25LZGGW/ref=sr_1_12_sspa?crid=22TM42KXS11..., or $45 for a 1TB Samsung 980 M.2 NVMe SSD: https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-MZ-V8V1T0B-AM-980-SSD/dp/B08V83JZH4/ref=sr_1_4?crid=22TM42KXS111K&key....

Can't go wrong with either option.

In order to clone your existing 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD to a new M.2 NVMe SSD, you'll need an M.2 NVMe SSD to USB adapter, such as this one I would recommend: https://www.amazon.com/ELUTENG-M-2-NVME-NGFF-Converter/dp/B0BJCYR1P7/ref=sr_1_10?crid=39VOS1MZCDYM8&....  This adapter is only used as an intermediate tool, meaning, once the cloning is completed, you would power down your laptop, remove your battery, and replace the old M.2 drive with your newly cloned M.2 drive, reconnect your battery, put the bottom panel back in place, and your laptop should boot right up.  Easy peasy.

Anyway, here is an easy-to-follow YouTube instructional video how to clone to a new M.2 NVMe SSD. Please note that the YouTube's "M.2 NVMe SSD enclose" is not one I would use, rather use the M.2 adapter I referenced above. Easier to work with too: insert the new M.2 drive onto the M.2 adapter, secure with the provided tiny screw, and plug in the adapter's USB connector to your laptop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElJJ5Sl4DoQ.

Just look at the video and see if this task is within your comfort zone to do.  If not, ask a trusted family member or friend to do this for you.

Hope this was helpful.
