Hi.

Isn´t there a german community out there also?

I own above Ultrabook with an 8 GB DDR3L SDRAM and a 256GB SSD.

I would like to know if anyone knows a support in Nürnberg, Germany to upgrade both (to 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD), or if anyone could tell me where and what to buy exactly in case the change is to do for me also.

Thx

Mike

Hi @MlCHA ,

the German community had been closed on Dec. 9th, and completely erased on Dec, 13th.

I am sure you will find an adequate PC service in Nuremberg. Unfortunately, I do not know of such a service either in Nuremberg or in Fürth, as I live several hundred kilometres away.
But maybe a look at the Maintenance and Service Guide will help you. Since the RAM is soldered in the mainboard, it can’t be upgraded. Regarding the SSD you can look to pages 30-31, but it has a rather odd Drive Form Factor: M.2/2242. Even Crucial does not have an update for that.

I‘m sorry.

Uli

Your machine is an  HP Spectre 13-3010eg Ultrabook , its specs

     https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-spectre-13-3000-ultrabook/5401166/document/c04026745

Its manual

      http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04055643.pdf

1. RAM: it has onboard RAM (means RAM is soldered to the system board) and 8GB is the max number, you can't upgrade.

2. Storage: It uses mSATA SSD and you can replace it with a larger (capacity) mSATA SSD.  For example

        https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/860-evo-sata-3-msata-ssd/MZ-M6E1T0BW/

  >>>> anyone knows a support in Nürnberg, Germany

With manual you can do it yourself But if you wish, please contact HP in your country

Hi Uli. Thx alot for the guide. Lets forget the RAM, but concerning your guide it looks as if I could at least go for spare part no. 744380-001, a 512GB SSD. That would be an option. And it looks as if I could work on all that by myself. Thx.

Edit: I am a bit confused that your M.2/2242 shows a three-parted SSD concerning the contacts, while the other tip leads to another formfactor (two-parted).

Hi banhien. Also very helpful. Tried to find these infos via the HP support guide onboard, but did not get the clou.

Concerning the SSD I´ll take a look at your links.

Have a great evening, guys

Edit: Your links offers a 1TB SSD, that would be even more perfect. Thx again

Edit 2: Is there a reason why the maintanace guide only shows a 512GB SSD as a spare.

Can it be the size is limited?

Hi guys.

OK, I opened the laptop and found a

SanDisk SSD X110 M.2 2280 256GB

3.3VDC 2A

FW: X231306

HW Rev: 1

HP P/N: 725341-001

SN: 133754400029

SD6SN1M-256G-1006

So the linked Samsung seems to be the wrong one, Uli had the correct format I think.

Let me ask:

would this Crucial-1-TB-SSD-Mx500-M-2-SATA-2280

...or one of these SSD m2. 2280 1TB Conrad online work?

Is 1TB permitted in this laptop?

Can I change the SSD WITHOUT taking out the accu (as recommended by the manual).

Would it be OK to let the laptop just run empty?

Thx

MIke

Hi @MlCHA ,

replacing the SSD without taking out would be at your own risk, it is not advisable.

Normally the 1TB size will work. I would try a Crucial MX500 M.2 SSD, but I have no experience with this model. Maybe you should order it through an obliging mail order company where you will not have any problems if you use the German 14-day return policy.

Hi Uli.

Thx again. I hate screwing around, but would really like to get more storage.

The SSD looked easy with one screw and then popping out 😉

Hope that it will do to follow step 1. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (1). , without afterwards having to take it out.

Tell me: If I replace the SSD, will it be easy to install Windows again from my external DVD?

Or will I have to change boot-option in BIOS to "boot from ecternal..." first?

Thx

Hi @MlCHA ,

you should install Windows via USB flash drive. It is much faster than the installation with a DVD. You can get Windows here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You can change the language to German.

You could also use Rufus to create an USB drive with the partition scheme GPT.

When you start the installation set the partition scheme of the ssd to GPT by using Diskpart. Look here: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/windows/en-US/e5857014-16ed-4254-9976-0ecff801c6f6/diskp... I use always the procedure in chapter DISKPART method 1a (revised)

If you need more help, feel free to ask.
