I am also looking at upgrading the SSD on my HP 14 dq1033cl. I am leaning toward getting the
HP EX900 M.2 500GB PCIe 3.0 X4 Nvme 3D TLC NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - 2Yy44Aa#ABC
I am going to assume there are no issues with this model of SSD. The "4 flash memory channels " should give me better performance and the 500GB will give me the added capacity.

Hi Mark, I got mine to work, and in the end it was simple. In my case the drive was working fine, but the windows installation media did not have drivers for the hardware. Before upgrading, do to HP and download the wifi driver onto a usb stick. Getting windows installed without a touch pad was very annoying, but likely if you have a usb mouse you could avoid the worse of this. Once windows is installed get the wifi driver off of the stick and get it installed. When the computer has internet connectivity magic starts to happen. Go to device manager and start upgrading any drivers you require and things will start working. I installed the HP upgrade manager as well. Everything is working now.
Good luck
