For some time I have hp probook 4540s. Now I want to upgrade it with ssd. I took hdd from my hp and put ssd instead of it and I cannot install windows 7. I tried to change bios settings but still cannot install windows 7 on it.
Is there anybody who can help me with bios settings or any other tip?
Thanks

I will need to correct something I stated incorrectly. Enter BIOS to disable fast boot. Save the change.
See the following image. It will be in the system configuration tab.
Change the SATA mode to AHCI, if available.
Once you have done those two things, you can press the Save button to and then the exit button.
Try installing the Windows OS to the SSD after you have done those two things. If not successful, you may still need to prep the SSD with the Diskpart utility and then try installing the OS again. Unfortunately, you have chosen to do it the not so easy way instead of the simpler cloning method by use of a SATA to USB cloning cable and cloning software. If you had used the simpler method, you would have already been enjoying the speed of the SSD disk with Windows 7. Kingston does supply cloning software at their support website for an installation. A sata to usb cable costs around $20.00 USD.
Instructions for prepping your Sandforce controller based SSD with Diskpart for you.
Boot to a Windows 7 install DVD or a usb installer. As soon as you see the Welcome image hold the shift key down and press the F10 key. That should give you a command prompt.
Enter the following commands and press enter after each.
Diskpart (wait until disk part starts up to enter the next command)
List disk
Select disk n (where n is the number that was given for your SSD in List disk)
Clean
Create partition primary align=1024
Format fs=ntfs quick
Active (assuming you want to install an OS)
Exit (this will close the Diskpart utility)
Type in exit one more time to exit the command line.
Restart the notebook, boot to the Windows installer and begin the installation of Windows 7. If the install fails then contact your SSD vendor for an RMA to get a replacement SSD disk.

What is the type, brand and model of the SSD?

There are no BIOS changes that you need to make.
What kind of installation are you trying to perform?
Is it a clean installation or a factory image recovery with the recovery media?

Just wanted to let you know, this still is helping ppl. Just used this to upgrade the HDD in my 4520s. No option to disable fast boot but the diskpart was what I needed to get the install of 8.1R2 to see the HDD. Thanks again
