Envy m4-1115dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I bought Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 after looking into the maintenance manual of the Envy m4-1115dx  on page 46, and seeing this card as one of the supported WLAN modules. However, once I installed the card, the Bluetooth was working fine, but the WiFi kept stating that the WiFi is disabled due to the Wireless key on the keyboard is disabling the card. The card was instantly identified as the correct model, but the Wireless is still behaving as if it was disabled by the key.

The key itself is turning white and orange normally on press, so there is no actual problem with my keyboard, and I tried all the solutions stated in the other threads with the same problem. I tried all the drivers I could find, and performed a complete network reset. I even reset my BIOS configuration with no luck at all.

Is there any solution to this problem? I really want to use a dual band card for my laptop, and this card seems to be the only one that works. Noting that the new module itself is working fine in a different laptop that comes with similar Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 card.

Thank you in advance.

Hi:

Did you buy the Intel 6235 in the manual with the HP part number listed on the 'Replace with HP Spare' label?

Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 WLAN module   HP part number 690019-001.

A similar card won't work.  It has to have that part number on it.  You'd probably have to find one on eBay.

You may also want to experiment with a card that isn't even listed in the manual...this one...

Broadcom BCM943228HMB 802.11abgn 2×2 Wi-Fi Adapter, Broadcom Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter   HP part # 730668-001

It has the same wifi and Bluetooth specs as the Intel 6235 and also has driver support for W10.

I have found that the Broadcom cards work in many cases when you have that problem with Intel cards where the wifi is not working but the bluetooth is working.

Hello Paul,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

The thing about this part number is that 690019-001 is actually associated with Atheros AR9565, not the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235.

The BIOS of this laptop is using the whitelist technique, is there a way to test if Broadcom BCM943228HMB will be actually read before buying it?

You're very welcome.

I was afraid of that.

So many times the wifi card parts list is wrong.

There is no way to test the BCM card in your notebook without buying it.

I don't know of anyone with your specific model notebook that has upgraded the wifi card.

I had once recommended the Intel 7260 AC card to someone with a sleekbook 6 notebook which has the larger 15.6" display and the card did the same thing.

It was not listed as supported in the manual.

I see those Broadcom cards are pretty expensive on eBay.nl.

I'll tell you what I will do...

I have a couple of those cards lying around collecting dust, so if you are willing to give my your name and mailing address via the private message system, I will mail you the BCM wifi card free of charge in the interest of experimentation.

If you are, I will turn on my private message option which I normally leave disabled.

Hi Paul,

That would be great! However, I moved to the Netherlands a year ago, and I'm not sure if there is a feasible shipping solution.

If there is no feasible shipping option you know of, I will just try one anyway from a place with 30 days return guarantee.

Thank for helping out.

You're very welcome.

I think that model Broadcom card has a good chance of working, or I wouldn't have suggested it.

I hope you can get one and if you do, please post back and let us know if it worked.
