I have 400 Mbs high speed internet , but my laptop doesn't get anything close to these speeds with my Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn wifi adapter. I'd like to upgrade the adapter to one that is compatible with the 5 Ghz band so I can get faster connection speeds online. I was thinking about purchasing the Intel 3165NGW Dual Band Wireless AC + Bluetooth wifi card. How can I determine whether this card is compatible with my laptop?

Please try card for similar machines on the same series
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter
or an Intel 726x card.
Regards.
