Hp Pavilion 15 n249-sl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello to everyone.

I own an Hp Pavilion 15 n249-sl bought in 2014.

Since I can easily access Its wifi card slot, I wanted to upgrade the current wifi card, Realtek RTL8188E Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC, with another one that could support 802.11 ac, however I wasn't able to find any information regarding any compatible 802.11 ac wifi card or even If It's possible to do such an upgrade.

I really hope one of you will be able to shed some light on this matter.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Hi:

Since your notebook has an Intel 4th gen core processor, you can upgrade to this Intel dual band wifi adapter provided there are two wireless antenna cables connected to the Realtek wifi card currently installed.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0    HP Part # 710661-001

You should be able to find this model wifi card on eBay.   Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.

Thanks for your fast and thorough answer.

Using the hp part number you've given me I've found this one on e-bay: HP EliteBook 840 ZBOOK 14 15 17 Intel 7260 AC 876M 710661-001 Wireless Wlan card | eBay ; do you think It's a good fit? I'm sorry If I'm bothering you, but I just want to be sure I'm buying the right spare part.

You're very welcome.

Yes, that one should be just fine.

I bought my Intel 7260 from China too for a different model HP notebook.

It took about 2 weeks to get to the middle of the USA.

Not bad.
