Can I change the storage from HDD to SSD ?

You can not only change it there is an M.2 slot for an SSD in addition to the hard drive. Is this your model?

The link to the service manual seems to be broken so I cannot tell you exactly how to get into it but I can tell you it can accept a PCIe/NVME 2280 form factor M.2 SSD commonly known as a "gumstick" SSD like this:

also you can not use both a hard drive and the M.2 slot.....or at least in the elitebook 840's you can't.
