HP Pavilion dv6z-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC
Other

Sometime ago, I upgraded my HP Pavilion dv6z-7000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC (64-bit) from Windows 7 Home Edition to Windows 8 Pro and now would like to upgrade it to Windows 8.1.

My hardware includes:

  • AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon (tm) HD Graphics, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s) @ 2.70 GHz
  • AMD Radeon HD 7520G - Adatper Ram (VRAM): 512MB
  • 6.00 GB of RAM

I did run the Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant & says that 7 of my devices ARE compatible, well as looking up various resources that confirm most machines with Windows 7, pre-installed, should be able to run the OS with no issues.

However, the only drivers I see listed, for my specific model, are Windows 7 & Windows 8 ONLY!

So would my PC NOT be compatible with Windows 8.1?

Many thanks in advance for an explanation.

Hi:

Your PC should be able to run W8.1 just fine.

You should be able to use the W8.1 drivers and software from the newer dv6z-7200 notebook.

It should have the same hardware as your model.
