Hp laptop 15 dw1xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone. I'm looking to upgrade my laptop's hardrive as I was thinking long term 128GB won't be enough for me. My laptop is a Hp laptop 15 dw1xxx. My budget is around $100. I would like 1TB. I'm only looking at internal hard drives, not external. I'm open to SSD drives if it's good for my model of laptop. Also, what is the max amount of memory for a hard drive that my laptop model support?

Thank you for your time,

Yarn2

I bought the same laptop. I am waiting on the replacement RAM (2x16Gb) I ordered from Crucial and am thinking about a 2TB SSD. They have a compatibility guarantee.

I did the scan of my laptop here to get detailed hardware information.

A search of the hard disk part number shows it as a PCIe SSD, which leaves the HDD slot open for a 2.5 inch NAND SSD. A look at the Maintenance and Service guide states that a cable for that drive is not included. I'll have to crack open the bottom and have a look.

While upgrading the RAM, I confirmed that the SSD ribbon cable and connector are not present in my laptop. This post shows it in detail and provides a source for the two parts needed.

I just finished installing my 2TB Crucial SSD. The cable/connector from Amazon worked fine.

Flip up the black retainer.

Insert the cable with the writing downward and close the black retainer. I slightly creased the cable 90° at the connector and about 45° about 1/4” further to route it properly when the bottom cover is reinstalled.

Upon boot, it detected the new SSD and booted again. After I logged back in, it showed the new SSD in Disk 2.

Thank you for the links. I was wondering what interface size my laptop is. I didn't know how to type into google to get that information. I kept getting harddrive gb size. The tips for installing will be really helpful.
