HP 2000 laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I would like to upgrade the memory on my HP 2000 laptop running Windows 10 (64 bit) which is getting sluggish but since the laptop is nearly 3 to 4 years old I am not sure if this is possible.

My current laptop memory is 8GB and would like to at least double that or more.

Do this type of laptop has all components locked on the motherboard? (cannot upgrade other than buying a new laptop)

Where I can get the memory cards from?

How I can install the new memory cards?

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

regards,

@Zurdo99

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you need assistance in upgrading the RAM / Memory cards on your HP 2000 laptop,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you check your upgrade and service maintenance guide for details?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:

You laptop supports up to 8192 GB of system RAM (8GB - DDR3/1600-MHz)

DDR3/1333-MHz (DDR3/1600-MHz downgraded to DDR3/1333- MHz)

DDR3/1066-MHz (DDR3/1600-MHz downgraded to DDR3/1066- MHz)

Supports the following configurations:

● 8192-MB total system memory (4096×2; not supported on a 32- bit operating system)

● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1 + 2048×1; not supported on a 32-bit operating system)

● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1 or 2048×2)

● 2048-MB total system memory (2048×1)

For details on how to replace the cards: Click here & refer to page.45 for instructions

(And to check how much memory you currently have: Click here for details and select your model name)

That said, the parts may or may not be available as the device is obsolete however, You could purchase the part from HP, use the HP Parts surfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here) or alternatively, Contact HP for setting up an order/service via phone support

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

Hi Riddle_DEcipher, I have the laptop up and running a bit faster but it seems that the processor is the one giving me grief!

Nevertheless, thank you again for the good advice.
