Microsoft indicates that I need to upgrade my CPU for Windows 11; everything else is fundamentally acceptable.  I have a Intel Core i7 6500 CPU and would like to upgrade my Ops System - core to higher capability.  How do i determine if it is feasible and what components are compatible for exchange with my existing system?

@MW657,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

You cannot upgrade your laptop with a Windows 11 'eligible' processor, but if you like your notebook, there are a number of reliable and effective methods developed which would allow you to almost effortlessly upgrade your so-called "unsupported device" to Windows 11, such as this easy-to-follow YouTube instructional video shows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSrmhhigEhY&t=332s&ab_channel=Tips2Fix.

In the off-chance you don't like W11, you have 10 days to roll back to Windows 10. After 10 days, unless you follow the steps outlined in this instructional video, you may need to do a fresh install of Windows 10. Either way, this video will show you what to do: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v9_-4JCh_U&ab_channel=Tips2Fix.

@MW657,

You are most welcome: this method works great, applied it myself yesterday on an "unsupported device" (7th gen Intel Processor system): https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-an-HP-EliteDesk-800-G....
