Could someone advise on whether I can upgrade my Realtek RTL8723BE 802.11 bgn WiFi Adapter to one that supports Wifi 5 or WiFi 6? Also, is it possible to upgrade to Hard Disk to an SSD? The Model is HP Notebook - 15-ay122ne.

You're very welcome.
The service manual indicates that there is no M.2 slot for a SSD.
But you can always open it up and check.
Another forum member with a 15-ac model indicated that his notebook came with M.2 SATA SSD from the factory.
It may be that only the few models in that series that came with M.2 SSD's have the slot.

That helped. Will the Samsung Evo 860 be compatible with my Laptop's Motherboard? Also, will upgrading the WiFi card also upgrade the Ethernet port to support the same speed via LAN?

You're very welcome.
The Samsung 860 2.5" drive will work if your notebook does not have a M.2 slot and if it has a M.2 slot, the Samsung 860 M.2 drive should also work.
Upgrading the wifi card will not upgrade the ethernet adapter.
The ethernet adapter is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.
Its maximum throughput is 100 MBPS.
You could always buy a USB to RJ-45 gigabit ethernet adapter, plug it into your notebook's USB 3 port and get close to gigabit ethernet throughput.
Something like this...
