HP Compaq 6720s
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hello

My HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 is died and I would like to use its essential parts on old hp compaq 6720s. Parts I'd like to use on upgrade are:

- Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor
- 8GB of RAM
- 512 GB SSD (i upgraded on dv7t before)
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n Wireless Card

My question is that are these parts compatible with compaq 6720s? Specially processor and ram.

Hi:

Only the 2.5" SSD would work.

The 6720s uses DDR2 memory which runs at a different voltage than the dv7's DDR3 memory.

The DDR3 memory won't even fit in the memory slot.

The 6720s cannot support even a first-generation Intel core processor, let alone a 3rd gen.

The dv7's Wi-Fi card will not work in the 6720s due to the 6720s having a BIOS whitelist which would block the installation of any other model Wi-Fi card other than those listed in chapter 3 of the 6720s service manual from working.
