Hi,
Can I upgrade my processor Pentium T4200 in Compaq CQ40-505LA ?
I have reviewed, an important detail is the speed of the processor bus, the microprocessor T4200 model works at 800Mhz, and the T9600 model, instead, works at 1066Mhz. Therefore, my ram memories must also be changed?
I currently have two kingston sodimm ddr2 2gb 800mhz pc2-6400 memories working in Dual Channel. My Motherboard Model is Hewlett-Packard 3607 with Chipset Intel GL40 (Cantiga-GL) + ICH9M (Base).
I also know that the chipset limits the change of the processor models.
Thanks!

Hi:
If your notebook has the GL40 chipset, you can only install processors with a max FSB speed of 800 MHz.
Looking at the service manual for your notebook, the best processor you can upgrade to with the GL40 chipset would be the T6600. See chapter 1.

Thank you very much Paul, I have the GL40 chip model and I correct myself in the processor model that I have, it is the T4300 2.1 GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB. I've compared it to the T6600 2.2 GHz, 2-MB L2 cache, 800-MHz FSB and it's really not worth replacing, because, there isn't much difference.
