Hi, I have current 8GB Ram  (in one slot) and I wanted to upgrade the RAM.

So I opened the Laptop and was shocked, even though the motherboard has foreseen a second slot, there is no slot to the the second RAM into.

Is than an exception or does HP not provide laptops, which can be upgraded?threema-20220610-171216885.jpg

Wow, I was not aware of this. I was born in the late 70s and used to configure and upgrade my PCs starting with x386...  I did not know what laptops are sold, which have two slots theoretical slots, but cannot be upgraded.

I saw on Youtube several videos of 250 G7, which got upgraded.

The product specificiation, which I saw (bought the product at AMAZON) did for sure not highlight the fact that it is not upgradable.   I am  very disappointed with HP... did not know in the age of CIRCULAR ECONOMY, that products are being sold, which cannot be upgraded....

Well when every dollar counts, manufacturers will make a run of boards with top cpus and video cards built in, another for mid grade cpu's and so on until they get to the budget friendly boards and leave out every component they can to save a couple dollars.

But, Windows users can determine the maximum RAM capacity in the Command prompt (Run as Administer) with the command here- "wmic memphysical get MaxCapacityEX" without the quotes and divide the value by 1024 That will give you the total amount supported by your laptop.

It may be possible to replace your module with a 16GB chip.

Hi

indeed, @pbroussard  I did not mention that, because little chance
if the user has one of the processors mentioned, there is probably a limitation of the latter
I often encourage trying the Crucial Scan as well, as they often point to other possibilities.
but as mentioned in the documentation if you have this one Intel N5030

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/fr/fr/ark/products/197308/intel-pentium-silver-n5030-processor-4m-...

8 gb max

all the commands for the memory possibilities are described here to

I checked again. I bought the product at AMAZON, and there was no mention of this limitation. In contrast I found a footnote which talked about upgrading the RAM.

I also checked the software and of course WIndows said 1 of 2 slots is used.

So I feel tricked by HP, because I bought a product with limitations and those were not mentioned.

The challenge is now, that I have no possibility to contact HP, as there is no guarantee the contact system will not allow me to contact them.

Does anybody know how to contact HP with such an inquiry?

If you bought it from amazon, check with them to get started.
