Hi,
I'm looking forward to buy one of HP Envy x360 with AMD Ryzen 5. It looks like a very solid offer available on the market overall as of today. But for my needs I would like to have a slightly better specs in terms of memory and storage capacity. Unfortunately I don't have an option for customize and buy in my region, but as a local dealer representative has exlained I can bring my own memory banks and SSD for an upgrade to official HP service centre and have my notebook upgraded without loosing a warranty.
So my question is what models of memory and SSD drives are compatible (and will physically fit) with this model.
As I understand HP ENVY x360 15 with Ryzen comes with 1 bank of memory 8Gb installed. Is it installed in a slot (and therefore interchangeable), is it on-board and if so can I purchase the same model so I'll get 2 channel mode working?
What SSD models can buy for upgrade? Does the internal layout has limitations on physical size?
Thank you

Here is the Service Manual:
There are two memory slots and the model you ask about comes with a single 8 gig module so you can add another 8 gig module of DDR4-2666 SO-DIMM and have 16 gigs and it will run in dual channel mode.
I know you do not intend to do the work yourself but here is an image of what the insides look like with the back panel removed:
red is M.2 slot blue shows the memory cover and green shows hard drive
There is a heat shield piece covering the memory slots as shown above. Your laptop comes with a 1 TB 7200 rpm hard drive and I assume you want an SSD to make the laptop run faster. Your best option there is to get a 2280 form factor PCIe/NVME M.2 disk and it inserts at the location of the red circle. Windows will have to be relocated to run from that disk instead of the hard drive but I am sure the tech would know how to do that. The best kind to get is a Samsung 970 Evo. I have one myself in my own laptop and the speed is amazing. If you add a 512 gig M.2 you will have 1.5 TB of storage and I can't see how you would need more than that.
As you can see these are offered up to a 2 TB capacity with price varying with the capacity.
Memory:
Post back with any more questions. We could help you do this yourself but if the tech is not going to charge you that is a great deal. If this is the info you needed please accept as solution.
