Hello, sorry for my English but I use a translator. I have an notebook HP Envy 17 ae-104nl serial: [Personal Information Removed] product: 3GA65EA#ABZ (Win 10 Home) and I want to upgrade the hard disk and ram. More precisely I would like to install an SSD (Kingston NV1 NVMe PCIe SSD 1000GBM.2 2280 -SNVS/1000G or SSD Crucial P2 1 Tb PCI-ex M.2 2280SS) and 32gb of ram (Crucial 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM). My question is: - 1) The bios (F.33 rev.A) support booting from SSD PCI-ex? - 2) The motherboard support 32GB of ram? Thanks for the reply and greetings. Davide

Hi,
Sorry it took a while to get back to you.
Yes you can use the M2 Pcie only. In my opinion it is also the best choice. That way you will no longer have a mechanical drive in the machine.
I would remove the old drive and the install the M2 SSD.
You can create a boorable USB drive with the OS on it and use it to reinstall Windows

Let me know if you need any further help.
Take care,
David

Hi,
The machine supports max 32GB of DDR4 2400Mhz (2x16GB)
https://it.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/envy-17-ae103nl#memory
You can install an M2 PCIe NVMe SSD from your preferred brand and capacity
You should check if the actual physical slot is present on motherboard before buying the SSD
On paage 26 of service manual you can see the steps to remove the bottom cover to take a look.

Hope it helps,

Hi Iomare, thanks for the reply. I'll install the ram first so I check for the PCI-ex slot. After that I will adjust accordingly. But one last question: the bios support Windows booting with a single hard drive SSD PCI-ex? Thanks and greetings. Davide
