 just missing few steps in this.

 

do i have to switch reboot bios to usb?

 

do i have to do that before i put ssd inside the laptop or not?

You don't need to change the boot order in the BIOS.

 

Install the SSD.

 

Plug the bootable W8.1 flash drive in the USB port.

 

To boot to the installation media, turn on the PC, tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options. Select the F9 boot options menu, and from that, select the USB flash drive and press the enter key.

 

If the PC does not boot from the USB flash drive, go into the BIOS (tap the ESC key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options, select the F10 system setup option to get access to the BIOS menu.

 

Enable legacy mode and disable secure boot.   Save the settings and try booting from the USB flash drive again.
