Hello HP Community,

I'm planning to upgrade my HP 15-BE002TX (Product Number: W6T29PA#ACJ) laptop from HDD to SSD. According to the documentation, my laptop supports M.2 SATA SSDs. However, the listed compatible SSDs have smaller storage capacities (128GB/256GB). Also referred this community support question: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Does-my-Hp-notebook-15BE002TX-...

Can I install a 500GB M.2 SATA SSD of interface SATA III 6 GB/s in my laptop? Are there any specific requirements or limitations I should be aware of?
Additionally, I understand that the HDD and M.2 SATA ports are separate. Can I run both drives simultaneously, or do I need to replace the HDD with the SSD?

Thanks for your help and guidance!

Hi:

I don't see a M.2 SATA SSD slot in either of the screenshots on the link you posted.

That is not surprising to me at all because most of the older notebooks only had a M.2 SATA SSD slot if the notebook came with one from the factory.

If you look at chapter 3, page 35 of the service manual, additional parts are needed to add a M.2 SSD slot to the notebook.

Your only option for an upgrade to a SSD would be to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.

Apparently, the person who answered that post did not take the time to carefully look at the screenshots the person posted.

Hi Paul,
Yeah, now as I see the image more, I cannot find the m.2 SATA slot in the screenshot.

Hi:

Yes, there is definitely no M.2 slot in any of the models that only came with a 2.5" drive.

The same can be said for all of the other models covered by the service manual.

A 2.5" SSD performs just as well as a M.2 SSD so there is no advantage to installing one, unless you wanted a dual drive configuration.
