I have just reinstalled Windows 10 and installed  the latest update for version 1511.

Is it possible to upgrade to the latest version - 1909?

If so, how do I go about it?

Hi:

See if clicking on the blue Update Now button at the link below allows you to upgrade to v1909...

Thanks for this.

Unfortunately I have tried this and it does not work.

It puts a lock on the upgrade - 0x80240fff.

Does this mean that the hardware/firmware/drivers are not compatible?

You're very welcome.

The other thing you can try is to clean install v1909 by creating a bootable USB installation drive from the same link using the Media creation tool.

Then you don't have to upgrade from an older version.

I am pleased to say that I have managed to update the computer.

I did a bios upgrade (HP 255 G5). The update Windows did not work initially. Next day I rebooted and after a short delay I opened the settings to find updates were starting to download automatically (previously enabled).  After much updating (I am now at 1809) the 1909 update is ready!

Thank you for your help.

Anytime.

Glad that updating the BIOS allowed you to proceed with the updates to W10.
