HP Envy 17t-j100
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

This HP ENvy 17 needs to be able to use 5 GHz wireless due to the polluted 2.4 GHz environment it's in.

The notebook has a single band Realtek 2.4 GHz card in it.

Has anyone had any success installing 2x2 cards in this notebook?

Does it have dual antenna connections inside?

I see the question come up from time to time but not sure if anyone's been successful.

It looks like at least one HP Envy 17 owner has done this but it's not clear to me that

the models are exactly the same and what difference there might be.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Interesting.  Support for a/b/g/n antennas in the manual, but only lists 4 2.4 band cards as

supported.  Time to pop that back panel off and see if there are 2 antenna connectors, & then order

a card if it looks good.
