HP ENVY 15 j007eo
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!
I have a HP ENVY 15 from 2013 (the exact model is j007eo with an intel 4702MQ, Nvidia 750m etc.) and if I understand it correctly the wireless card doesn't support 5 GHz. (it only supports 802.11b/g/n and not a or ac). So my question is can I replace my wireless card with a wireless card that supports 802.11 AC? I've heard that Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 HMC Rev.2 is good.
The formfactor is exactly the same as the wireless card I currently have, but I've heard that the BIOS only "accepts" certain wireless card models so I wanted to check here before I buy the card (they said something about a whitelist).

Will it work? Will it not work? Why?

Thanks! 🙂

Yes your model was in the first "run" of models that finally got rid of the wifi card whitelist issue. It started with 4th gen Intel Core processors and Windows 8 models.

The Intel AC-7260 is exactly the card you want to install. Just double check to be sure you have 2 antennae available.

Page 6 of the Manual says you do and I seem to recall 2 in there on that model as well:

Your Manual

See p. 45 of the Manual for "how to".

AC-7260 on Amazon.com:
