Hi All,
I have drawn a blank in finding an answer to this issue so hope someone can help.
My system:
Model No: HP Notebook 15-da0594sa
Product No: 4XU96EA#ABU
Processor: Intel Core i3 7th Gen
System Board ID: 84A6 80.43
BIOS Revision: F.23
I have upgraded the RAM from a single stick of Samsung DDR4 2133 SODIMM 4Gb to a single stick of Crucial DDR4 2400 SODIMM 16Gb RAM. The Crucial site confirmed this is a compatible upgrade and it is working fine.
Along with an upgrade from HDD to SSD for the Windows 10 OS, the speed and performance of my machine is now stunning. I couldn't be happier.
The only issue is this. The BIOS and a Windows Command Prompt inquiry are reporting the RAM speed as 2133, not 2400. Previous research informed me that if mixed speed RAM chips were installed they would perform at the slower speed, which is why I completely removed the 4Gb stick before installing the 16Gb.
I'm far from being a power user. I just use this machine for day-to-day browsing and don't play any speed-hungry games. So I don't think I require any more speed. I'd just like to know if I'm getting the best performance from this set-up. I have heard the term 'overclocking' but never looked into the details. I certainly wouldn't want to over-stress the motherboard's capabilities.
So if anyone can confirm that my machine is performing normally, I'd be quite happy.
Thanks,
Dave
(Btw, the BIOS is up to date, as far as I'm aware.)
