Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello, I recently upgraded CPU from stock Intel E7550 to Intel T9800, cleaned thoroughly the stock fan, applied fresh (Arctic5) thermal paste, and fired the laptop up.  All seemed well, but no obvious “whoosh” from cooling fan, noticed temps. running a bit warmish with no apps running (55degC), then checked with Speedfan.

Sure enough, at high CPU load, fan putting out only 190-210 rpm and bottom of laptop very hot.

Shut it down, and tempted to refit old CPU.  Question is, do I need a BIOS update for the new CPU?   Currently have the last available rev. F.44, and not sure if there is any updated BIOS firmware still available for a 10yr old device...Upgraded memory to 8GB and swapped out stock HDD for SSD ca. 3 yrs ago, works fine, just thought I’d amp up CPU performance.

So, any solutions here, or do I indeed revert back to stock CPU?

Downloaded Notebook fancontrol app, which over-rides  motherboard control over fan speed, set it to ca. 50%, and CPU heating issues went away.

This is a very old laptop, and as far as I know, since I have one myself, there are no BIOS updates for it.
