Pavilion 17-127sf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My lap top is getting prety old and I am looking to make some upgrades. First I installed an SSD and a second 4GB RAM which by the way is running at 1333MHz instead of its normal 1600MHz, but I noticed the CPU is my bottleneck now. It is an AMD E1-2500 APU dual core.

What's a better CPU I can install on this model ?

Pavilion 17-e127sf

sn: 5CD4110XVZ

pn: F9V58EA#ABF

Bios: F.35 (vendor Insyde)

MoBo: 213B (socket FT1 according to speccy)

Is A6-5200 compatible ?

No your processor is soldered to the motherboard and not upgradeable. The AMD E series has very limited computing power more like a tablet or cell phone than a computer and it really cannot be upgraded even with memory and SSD to make it a good performer. Turn off all visual effects in Windows and set the hibernation file to a fixed size to avoid consuming processor cycles is about all you can really do.

If the memory you used to upgrade the notebook happened to be a 1300 Mhz memory module, both modules will default to the lower clock speed.

That news is as bad as it gets. Thank you for the fast reply

No the first module was already 1600 and working at 1333. I am trying to update the BIOS, but it's pretty unusual I agree. Actually I have noticed it in other models also, and the module hasnt been changed to my knowledge.

EDIT. BIOS update didnt solve it (F.39 now) and the module is A-Data PC3-12800 (800MHz) working at 666MHz CAS 9

Again on the AMD E series the system can run the memory at a maximum 1333 mhz (667 double data rate).

It fits what I see but it's strange it came with a 12800 module and here it says (p6) :

Support for DDR3L-1600 MHz single channel (for use on computer models equipped with an AMD A6-5200, A4-500,or E1-2500 processor)

Its not strange it came with DDR3L-1600 as those modules readily downclock and are less expensive than DDR3L-1333 modules (hard to find).

The processor is only capable of running 1333 memory.

Memory controllerThe number of controllers: 1
Memory channels: 1
Channel width (bits): 64
Supported memory: DDR3-1333, DDR3L-1333
DIMMs per channel: up to 2
Maximum memory bandwidth (GB/s): 10.7

The A series AMDs can run the memory at 1600.
