Chrome OS

Anybody know if this Chromebook can have ram upgraded? An increase from 4 to 8gigs would be a big help I think.

Hi:

According to the product specs for your notebook, the 4 GB memory is onboard.

'Onboard' means the memory is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be removed or upgraded.

Thanks! I was pretty certain the 4 gigs is soldered on, but I have seen systems that also have an additional option to add a single stick of RAM. When I looked at the bottom of the Chromebook I definitely got the impression getting into it would be very difficult. There are no visible screws. I was just hopeful.  thanks again

You're very welcome.

Yes, there are some model series that have removable memory that has one slot.

Many have the soldered memory.

I have a HP Stream Pro like yours that has 4 GB of non-removable memory.

I wanted to post the link to the service manual in my first reply, but HP seems to be having some issues with most of the manuals being gone from the support pages.

I was able to find a manual from searching another post.

If you look at chapter 3 of the manual, you will see that different motherboards were used for the notebooks that came with 4 GB or 8 GB of memory.
