I am wondering if I am able to upgrade my PENTIUM GOLD processor to a i5. If this is possible how would I go about it? If not are there another options for me to upgrade my system CPU?

No you can't. You have to buy a new system board (if available) which contains
(a) Motherboard,
(b) CPU with integrated video,
(c) Dedicated Video card (if applicable),
(d) Operating system (you can't reuse old license).
Because all above 3 or 4 components are on one piece of hardware called System board. I don't know what is your HP 15-dw1xxx . You may have to buy new charger and few other things. Buying a new machine would be cheaper at the end.
Regards.
