HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 15-br095ms
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to upgrade the SSD and maybe even the HDD on my Pavilion x360 Convertible 15-br095ms.  When I look at the back of my  laptop I don't see any compartments that open up like I have seen on other laptops I have owned.  There are only 3 screws across the bottom and that is all.  Are those screws what I need to remove to get in there and swap out the drives?

Thank You.

Thank you as that was very helpful.  I want to ask one more question just in case I decide to do this.  My laptop also has a built in 2.5 inch HDD for storage.  Is it possible to swap out the storage drive for a 2.5 inch SSD?  I watched a video on youtube with a person who did it with a laptop like mine but in his case his main drive was a 2.5 HDD and not a SSD.  He removed the HDD and installed a 2.5 SSD and used the same cable with nothing else needed to be done.

I should be able to do that for my storage drive also?

Thank you.

You're very welcome.

You sure can.  I don't know how much difference it will make in performance, since you are only using it for storage, but the SSD should run a bit cooler and use less power.

Thank you as that is a good point.  I really use that drive for storage and mainly video files of guitar lessons i have compiled over the years.  I could get a lot more storage for a lot less money also.

Thanks again.

I hate to say this but I have one more quick question.  When replacing my 128gb SSD is there a size limit on how big I can go?  I would like to go 2 TB if possible.  Thank you.

Hi:

You should be able to.

I was hoping the Crucial memory/SSD report for your notebook would have a list of M.2 SATA SSD's you could upgrade to, but they don't list any at all.

Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | hp - compaq | pavilion x360 products | Pavilion x360 15-br095ms | Crucia...

The manual only lists M.2 SSD's up to 512 GB, but normally you can go to 2 TB with most notebooks.

Hard to believe but I have one more question.  I noticed that the SSD in my laptop is a SATA III type.  Do I need to get that same type or can i use a NVMe type of SSD drive?

Thanks.

Hi:

You can only use a SATA M.2 SSD.

If you look at chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual, only the 15-cc7xx models covered by this service manual support NVMe drives.  All others...SATA only.
