I want to do a CPU upgrade on my Pavilion G6-1160ex. It currently has a Intel Core i5-2410M.
Socket Type: G2 / PGA988
RAM: 4GB DDR3
OS: Was 'Windows 7 Home Premium x64'. Upgraded to 'Windows 10 Home x64'
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7400M Series

I want to install a more powerful CPU. It should be able to withstand heavy gaming. Which model should I use?

Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.
The supported processors can be found in chapter 1.

Looks like the best one you can upgrade to is the Intel® Core™ i7-2620M
