HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-ch1000 (436X1AV)

I have a HP ENVY Laptop 17-ch1xxx.  Can I upgrade my memory to 32 GB? Can you please suggest if this is supported or is it going to cause any kind of problem? Also please suggest RAM specifications I should use. Thanks.

You're very welcome.

Yes, that would be the correct 32 Go memory kit to order.

You can probably by the kit on Amazon.Fr or on the Crucial.Fr website whichever costs less.

Looks like it costs less on the Crucial site.

Crucial RAM CT2K16G4SFD832A 32Go Kit (2x16Go) DDR4 3200MHz CL22 (ou 2933MHz ou 2666MHz) Mémoire Port...

You may want to check the cost of buying two 16 Go memory chips instead of a 32 Go kit.

Chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide on your notebook's support page indicates the maximum memory is 2 x 8 GB.

HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-ch1000 - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support

You can run this command to see if your notebook can support more than 16 GB of memory:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

The Crucial memory report for the model series indicates that it can support 2 x 32 GB of memory:

Thank you very much for your prompt reply! The procedure you indicated to me for the maximum Ram capacity supported by the motherboard indicates 32GB.

Can you confirm that this is what I should install?
