17-by4062cl

I need a laptop for watching youtube and a few other things and the 17-by4062cl seems nice.

My question is the website I'm ordering it from says the ram is not upgradable which seems kind of weird.

Memory can go bad and it would suck to throw out a whole laptop due to some faulty ram down the line.

Hi:

Unfortunately, HP only has the service manual for the older model series on the 17-by4xxx support page.

HP Laptop PC 17-by4000 (18B37AV) Manuals | HP® Customer Support

According to chapter 1 of the service manual, the memory is removable (just not as an authorized self-help procedure).

There is a procedure to remove and replace the memory in chapter 6.
