Hi,
I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop with 2x16 GB of RAM; I currently have 2x8 GB. The question is whether it will help speed it up or if it will come down to the processor speed at some point. I mostly need it for programming. Below are the system specifications, the laptop brand, and the RAM I currently have in it:
System model: HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 17-cd0xxx
Bios: F-65
Device name DESKTOP-9MT8OF0
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9750H CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
Device ID E0295DA6-E567-4D2D-B771-EC62968B7AA7
Product ID 00330-80000-00000-AA526
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
If upgrading the RAM does help, I'd appreciate it if you could recommend me a few purchase options (amazon or ebay). How about this one, for example: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-2x16GB-Laptop-Memory-CT2K16G4SFRA32A/dp/B08C4X9VR5/?_encoding=UTF8&pd...

Hi:
Normally installing more memory helps in most situations, but no one can really answer your question unless you know how much free memory is available when you are running your programming software.
If you have more than 8 GB of free memory when you are running programs, installing 32 GB probably won't make a whole lot of difference.
For example, I have a Dell desktop with 32 GB of memory.
When I run the Windows resource monitor and click on the memory tab, it shows that I have 19.5 GB available and 6.4 GB in use.
I probably could have gotten by with 16 GB of memory, which would have still left me with more than 50% of available memory for use.
The memory you picked out is what I would have recommended.
