I was planning to upgrade my laptop SSD from 128GB to 1TB. My device is Pavilion -15-cc103ne, I found out from the forums and service guides that my laptop had M.2 NVme SSD slot. I checked crucial site for compatibility and found out that P5 Plus 1TB is compatible : https://www.crucial.in/ssd/p5-plus/ct1000p5pssd8 . Also I found another Kingston KC3000 1TB with less power consumption and more read and write speed (compared to P5 Plus). https://www.kingston.com/en/ssd/kc3000-nvme-m2-solid-state-drive?capacity=1024gb . But I don't know if my baseboard (HP 83F9) will be able to utilize it to full extend. Can someone help me with this ?(my current SSD is X600 128GB with 530MB/s)
Also after my update to Windows 11 my battery backup has reduced my almost half, is it because of the extra power consumption it requires to run it. I also recently changed my laptop battery due to it bulging (still the backup only lasts for 2 hrs when I use it) . I am worried that when I install a higher storage SSD the rate of power consumption would increase and my battery backup would fall. It would be a big help if my query is answered, Thank you.

Hi:
Since your notebook's M.2 SSD slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0, a PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD such as the Crucial P5 Plus will not run at anywhere near its maximum advertised read/write speeds.
The max speed you can hope to get from your notebook's M.2 slot would be around 3,500 MBPS assuming the slot is PCIe 3 x 4 and not 3 x 2.

Thank you for the response. Is there a way to confirm the interface slot is PCIe Gen 3.0x4 for my device. The crucial P5 Plus was recommended by their site after I ran a SSD compatibility software which I downloaded from their site. So was the software wrong ? Can you suggest an SSD which can full utilise my M.2 form factor. Also will i be able to support 2TB of SSD in my 15cc103ne ? .🙏Thank you

You're very welcome.
The Crucial P5 Plus will work fine but not at the full speed.
They just want to sell you the most expensive and best performing drive they offer.
Since notebook processors are integral parts of the motherboard, you can look up the PCIe connectivity specs for the processor at the applicable AMD or Intel websites.
As you can see from your notebook's processor specs, the PCIe generation is 3.0.
Under the Expansion Options section.
Intel Core i78550U Processor 8M Cache up to 4.00 GHz Product Specifications
If you want a Crucial drive, the P3 is the one that would not be overkill, since it is PCIe Gen 3.0.
Crucial P3 1TB PCIe M.2 2280 SSD | CT1000P3SSD8 | Crucial.com
Crucial P5 Plus 1TB PCIe M.2 2280SS Gaming SSD | CT1000P5PSSD8 | Crucial.com
The P3 would save you around 2100 Rs for the same performance out of a PCie Gen 3.0 slot.
The only reason to buy the P5 Plus would be if you wanted to transfer it to a newer model PC in the future that has a PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD slot.
Other options to consider:
Samsung 980 PCie 3.0:
WD Blue SN570:

I was successful in upgrading my SSD to 1 TB, once again thank you for your help. I had another doubt, will i be able to upgrade my display from TN to LCD or LED or OLED. The TN display has glare and not much color .

You're very welcome.
Glad the 1 TB drive worked for your notebook.
Regarding upgrading the display.
I recommend you start a new topic on that because I don't have any experience with a project like that since it is rather involved and pretty expensive, if it is even possible.
I'm thinking that you could only use one of the supported displays listed in chapter 3 of the service manual, and it looks to me like your notebook already has the best display offered in the model series.
