A couple problems with that. First you generally do not want to use an Intel wifi card on an AMD system. A much better choice would be the Broadcom Azurewave which works better on AMD machines:

However, your laptop only has a single wi-fi antenna and hence is not really suitable for either the Intel 9260 or Azurewave. Both require 2 antenna to work very well. There is only one NGFF (M.2) wireless and BT 802.11ac wifi card that will work with one antenna. Its a Realtek but I have forgotten the exact part number. @Paul_Tikkanen might help. You could add a wireless antenna but that is not easy to do. We have seen some users suggest you can just add a second antenna and kind of coil it up inside the laptop instead of running it up around the screen. I have not tried that so do not know how it works.
Post back with any more questions.

Hi, @Con99
When you do a search of the two wifi card part numbers on eBay, they show up as M.2 form factor cards.
So, this would be the card you can upgrade to with one antenna...
Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP Part # L17365-005.
Unfortunately, that card has been on back order for months at the HP Parts Store, but you can find several of them listed for sale on eBay.

Here are the links to the latest wifi and bluetooth drivers for the RTL 8821CE wifi adapter...

One note of warning...there are a few model series in the 15-a range that have BIOS whitelists.
I know the 15-ac series does, and maybe the 15-ae series too.
I am not sure about the 15-ab series. The 15-af series does not.
So if your notebook does not have a BIOS whitelist, then the above card will work just fine.
HP does not share any info on what notebooks have BIOS whitelists.
We just find this information out by other forum members feedback when installing wifi cards not listed in the service manual.
