Hello! there,

My internet service provider has recently upgraded my internet connection (WiFi) to 5G and have installed a Huawei HG633 modem router. As my noteback is quite old(2013 model) so, I only have 802.11b, 802.11g & 802.11n radio types. Due to this, I am unable to connect to the 5Ghz band of my WiFi whereas 2.4Ghz is working just fine.

Furthermore, is it possible for me upgrade to a new Wlan card which supports 5G / 802.11ac / 802.11a. If yes, how much will it cost me?

Please give your suggestions.

Regards,

Apoorv Awasthi

Hi:

Yes, there are.

The black wire and the white one.

Here is the card you can upgrade to...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0     HP Part #710661-001

That model wifi card should be easily available on Amazon or eBay. Shouldn't cost more than $20 - $25.

Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the wireless card.

Hi:

Open up the service door to your notebook and let me know how many antenna cables are connected to the wifi card in there now.

There needs to be two antenna cables present in order to upgrade to a dual band AC wifi adapter.

Here is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

The wifi card R & R procedure can be found in chapter 5.

Hi Pual,

I think I opened the correct service door. Please check the image above.

And, could you please let me know whether there are 2 antennas connected to the wifi card or not?

You're very welcome.

Please post back and let us know how your wifi card upgrade went.

You can find the wifi and bluetooth drivers you need directly from Intel at the link below...
