I added my laptop using the serial number but it won't appear in the "select from my products" pull down menu ;(

The laptop I have is the Pavillion DV7-4127CA

Right now it is equiped with 4 Gb of RAM and I replaced the HD with a SSD a few years back,

Latelly, it is running really slow.  I am talking taking 2 to 3 minutes to open an excel spreadsheet.

I am not sure what is going on but my guess is that the memory is no longer big enough and it's swapping on the SSD using the virtual memory.

I would like to upgrade it to the most memory it can hold.  I know that at the time of purchase it was 8 GB but I have read on the net that you can go much higher now, like 16 or 32 GB.

What memory modules should I purchase spec wise and what brand are recommended for this laptop?

Hi:

HP retired support for your notebook since it is more than 10 years old.

That is why you can't find any info on it.

According to the parts list, your notebook has an AMD Phenom II P840 1.9GHZ processor.

HP PartSurfer

Your notebook can only support a max of 2 x 4 GB of memory.

The Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates the same.

Thank you Paul.

8 Gb is still twice the amount of RAM, can't hurt.

I just opened the service door on the laptop and I see there is also room for a second HDD/SSD but there is no tray or cable, do you know if those are common and can be purchased somewhere?  I just watched a video on youtube and the tray and cable are supposed to come with it 😞

Regardless, thank you for the quick answer.  I will order the RAM, a second SSD and a spare battery while I am at it 😉

You're very welcome.

They used to have an aftermarket kit that worked for a 2nd HDD cable and caddy, but I don't think you can buy them anymore.

Thanks!  There is one on Amazon.   Will check if there is a second connector when I install the ram.
