Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’ve already upgraded this notebook with an SSD and installed more RAM. It currently has an i5-3230M processor. The chipset is HM76 Express. What is the best processor that this notebook will accept? I know for example, that the i7-3940QM does use that chipset, but is the motherboard of this notebook up to it? Are there other considerations that would prevent its use? I can get this chip and other in the third Intel iteration quite cheaply on AliExpress.

Hi:

According to chapter 1 of the service manual, the best supported Intel processor would be the Intel Quad Core i7-3632QM 2.20-GHz processor.

The Intel Quad Core i7-4702MQ needs a notebook motherboard with an Intel HM86 chipset.
