I need advice on which type of hardrive/ssd to purchase as I have hardly any memory space. Also, if I do install a new one will I lose my documents etc?

@Jimmy78uk , welcome back to the Community.

What is the Product Number of the computer? I need this information to review the specifications of it. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information. You can find the Product Number at the bottom of the page when you open HP Support Assistant.  The product number that you provided does not appear to be correct.  Once I have this information I will be able to help you further.

really sorry buy that's all I can find, support assistant has been deleted somehow. I've tried to download it again but it isn't compatible and sends me to a legacy download but there's nothing there.

Thank you for the additional information, @Jimmy78uk!

This is why the Product Number is so important for us to answer your questions.  You posted your question in the Desktop section; not in the Notebook section where it should be.  The problem is, there isn't much information available to us on your notebook.  In fact, the Maintenance and Service Guide doesn't even mention a hard drive or SSD.  This makes me consider that it can't be replaced or upgraded.

Please click the "Yes" button if my reply was helpful and "Accept as Solution" if your problem is Solved!!
