Hi folks,
i'm considering buying this computer, as i found a great offer for it. Unfortunately it's equipped with the 250nits display, which i guess is pretty low for outdoor use. Therefore, i'm thinking about replacing it with the 400nits version, as i noticed that the EliteBook 830 G8 is sold with a 400n. display as well.
1) Will i be able to install the new panel in the original bezel and back cover, or should i go for a whole new display kit ?
2) Could you guys help me figuring out the exact part number for the 400nits version ? I can't look up in HP PartSurfer, as i don't have the 400nits computer s/n.
According to the Maintenance and Service Guide, there are 3 different 400nits kits for this computer,
400 nits, 72% CG, eDP + PSR, low power, ambient light sensor, HD + IR camera
400 nits, 72% CG, eDP + PSR, low power, ambient light sensor, HD + IR camera, WWAN (4G)
400 nits, 72% CG, eDP + PSR, low power, ambient light sensor, HD + IR camera, WWAN (5G)
but i guess the panel is the same, right ?
Looking on the internet from the standard 250n version (M36416-001) from this document, i came upon this reference: M36419-001 for the 400nits. But the problem is that i cannot find any merchant selling it under this reference. Shouldn't the reference rather be something like Lxxxxx-xx ?
Thanks in advance for your precious help.

Happy to help but trying to buy a laptop with the idea of swapping out the screens immediately is not financially very helpful.
But if you must here is the part number for the 400 nit screen as stated in the Service Manual:
400 nits, IR camera, ambient light sensor M36419-001
The trick with laptop screen upgrades is to find the screen manufacturer part number. In this case, the HP Part Number is too restrictive when you are searching. Even better figure out jut what size screen, connector type and location and shop for a 400 nit screen from all screen makers.
Aliexpress has this but I am skeptical it is the 400 nit version:

And yes the various panels are interchangeable. You can remove the original and pop in a 400 nit as long as it has all the same mount points and connector and connector placement. Good luck and post back with any more questions. I've done a few laptop screen installations in my day so have some tips.
