Upgrading the SSD for my 15-dw0043dx

The Notebook came equipped with a 128GB SSD, which I planned on expanding at a later date. I didn't check the specs on the laptop and purchased a Samsung SSD 870 EVO 1TB drive. So imagine my surprise when I opened it up and realized that there was no card/slot to connect a SATA 2.5" internal SSD! There is room in the chassis for the SSD, but nothing to plug the SSD directly into. So, my question is, if I purchase the solid-state drive board (part #: L52026-001) and solid-state drive cable (part #: L52025-001), and install them to the motherboard, will the Samsung SSD 870 EVO drive work? I do have an older mechanical 2.5" SATA drive (500GB & 1TB) if I can't use the 1TB SSD with these extra parts.

The other option is to purchase a larger capacity M.2 form factor SSD drive. According to the specs HP uses the following:

M.2 SATA-3, TLC, SSD 128GB or 256GB

or

M.2, PCIe, NVMe, SSD 512GB

I'm more familiar with the older 2.5" HDs, not with these M.2 form factors. 

The M.2 SSD installed on the laptop is a SanDisk SSD X600 SATA M.2 2280 128GB.

Is it possible to install a larger capacity M.2 2280 SSD greater than 256GB, or can an M.2, PCIe NVMe 512GB SSD can fit and function in that same slot? I would rather go with the 512GB SSD, but I'm not sure if the M.2 SSD slot can accept either SATA-3 or PCIe.

If I do go with the M.2 SSD upgrade. How do I go about transferring the data from the old M.2 drive to the new one? I had a USB -> SATA cable and used the Samsung software to copy a mirror image of the 128GB drive to the 1TB 2.5" SSD. But I'm not sure what to do if I just swap out the M.2 drives.

I know it is an older laptop, and it has been upgraded to Win 11. This laptop needs more storage capacity since it is already maxed out.

It has  128 GB M.2 SSD which is a SATA SSD. You can

1. Replace it with 1TB or 2TB M.2 SATA SSD such as  https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/sata-ssd/ssd-860-evo-sata-3-m-2-2tb-mz-n6e2t0bw/
2. Add 2.5" SATA HDD or SSD to your machine but you need 2 more parts (a)  Hard drive board part # L52024-001 and (b)
   Hard drive cable part # L52025-001
3. Do both 1 & 2
