I was wondering if I could switch out the motherboard for a part 924751-601 motherboard or if it's incompatible and you cannot switch it out at all.

There is a list of compatible system boards on page 20 of the following manual (for all 15-bs2xx machines):

Please note: buying new system board means buying
(a) New motherboard,
(b) New CPU/Processor,
(c) New video card (if applicable),
(d) New Windows license, because you can't re-use the old one.
All 4 (or 3) above components are on one piece of hardware called system board you can't buy just one part.
