I own a Pavillion 15 cc130tx laptop. Recently the hard disk of the same seems to have failed after a lot of BSoD. The specs say it's a SSHD. I was wondering If I can replace it with a new SSD. Also since the last one was 1 TB drive, now I am planning to get a 500 Gb drive, will it cause any problems. I plan to install windows using a bootable USB.
And just out of curiosity, what are the chances that the old SSHD can be somehow repaired to be used as external storage, cause I am not sure if it really failed. But the activity light is down almost all the time while booting, the hard disk test said no drive detected, so mostly I believe it failed.
Any insights will be very helpful.

You can replace SSHD with a 2.5" SSD, no problem. But why only 500GB, anyway that is your choice. Please use Crucial MX500 series, Samsung 860 EVO series or from a reliable vendor.
