The hard drive on my laptop crashed, it has a loud ticking coming from the drive. Is my laptop capable of running a SSD drive?

Yes, basically you can replace existing HDD with any standard 2.5" SSD's from reliable vendors on market today. It has 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA now, your can replace HDD using 2.5" 1TB or 2TB with 7mm thickness from Samsung, Crucial, Sandisk ... For example
