Hi everyone, I just bought the Envy x360 13 today and I was having a great time with it. But when I checked the specs, there happens to be a problem with the usable RAM. It only says that 5.88GB usable RAM even though 16GB ram was installed. This is a huge loss for me and I was wondering if there's any way I can fix it. Thank you so much and have a great day 🙂

Hi again Paul,
It seems that this issue has been solved without me getting a replacement. After the recent BIOS update by HP, my usable RAM has increased to 13.9 GB. Just wondering if this is the most I can get from my 16 GB RAM? Thanks 🙂
Kind regards,
Massicato

Hi:
I know that net usable memory amount happens when you have 8 GB of memory, but I assumed it increased when you have 16 GB.
HP issued a bulletin on this a while back...
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06526774
This seems to only apply to models with AMD Ryzen processors and chipsets.
Info on Microsoft PlayReady.
https://www.microsoft.com/playready/overview/
See if this works...
Run 'msconfig', go to 'boot' tab, click on 'advanced options', and untick 'maximum memory,' if the box is checked.
After the restart, it should show the correct amount of usable memory.
If the box is not checked, unfortunately I don't know what you can do to increase the usable memory amount.
That is way too low with 16 GB.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your suggestion, I tried it multiple times before asking on this forum and unfortunately it doesn't work. Should I just ask for a replacement? thank you and have a great day.
Kind regards,
Saf

You're very welcome.
Since I don't work for or represent HP, I wouldn't be able to answer your question.
But something is not right there, so if you can take it back to where you bought it from and get a replacement, I would do so.
I would also suggest that you buy a comparable model with an Intel processor and chipset so you don't get those kind of issues.
Intel PC's may cost a little more, but IMHO they are worth it.
Basically you have 8 GB of memory in there doing absolutely nothing after taking into account the 2 GB 'tax' that is levied on the 1 x 8 GB memory module.
